The impetus for this project came from the realisation that the main water supply for local birds, insects and other wildlife appeared primarily to be from swimming pools, usually with salt or chlorinated water.

We have created a small but beautiful nature reserve with a fresh water pool and water-wall and were delighted to see dragonflies dancing on its surface even before its completion! It is populated with local plants, some of which are endangered. While access to this area is restricted from the rental villa, there is a viewing platform from which guests can see the pool and you may roam freely above the pool, where we have created a small stream that flows through a well (home to 2 frogs) and down into the pool.
